Never saw another butterfly

The photo above is my vision of my poem. As I read the poem I just felt like I was in her shoes and every body with fear around me. “Today the ghetto knows a different fear,Close in its grips, death wield and icy scythe. An evil sickness spreads a terror in its wake, The victims of its shawdos, weep and writhe. Today a father’s heartbreaks tells his fright and mother bend their heads into their hands. Now children choke and die with typhus here, A bitter tax is taken from their bands. My hear still beats inside my breast while friends depart for other worlds. Perhaps it’s better- who can say?- than watching this, to die today? No no, my God, we want to live! Not watch our numbers melt away. We want to have a better world, we want to work- we must not die!

   This is not your typical teenage story. You know where girls find there true love in age 15. The is about a teenager name Starr. She lives in a neighborhood were you know this where all the criminals are. But as she attends school she has to act like she has money and lie about her family and her friends from the hood as she so describes it. She sometimes feel likes she does not belong at all in both world. Like in Hannah Montana so times she felt like she acting more like Hannah than Miley. As she has to deal with that Starr's best friend is shot and killed. To me the idea of this book is about a girl who is trying to find where she belongs.

   In the book Starr's mother had told her that:

“Sometimes you can do everything Right and things will still go wrong the key is never stop doing right”

This quote just remind me of how we you plan a party and you have everything down but then everything blows up in your faces but that is life telling you to never give up.

On March 14^th,2018 there school walk-out to end gun violence. To stand for the 17 people. But during the book many schools also walking out for Khalid as Starr's best friend was killed. All schools participated even Starr's school. Here is the thing he was not armed yet the police supposedly thought he was armed.

My question was “Why didn’t you arrest him instead of shooting”

I wish I can say everything because every little detail in the book was making me go wow ever minutes. Every time I read I wanted to tell my family every single detail about the book. In the book the whole book is like my favorite part. But if I had to choose it would be when Starr’s dad and her have a moment together talking about what did Tupac tattoo mean.

4 students have fear. Don't we all? When Lulu, Garrison, Theodore, and Madeleine have to go to summer school to face the fear.. Everyday they hate their parents for putting them there at a horrible place that that they have to get close to their fears.  Day by Day they are slowly solving their fears. As they do they have to see how horrible the teachers. Would you like to a school that have mean teachers all the time? I think people would enjoy the book because in some part you can relate.
One of the part is when the parents drop them of and they were moaning and compiling of how they don want to go. This would remind me how my parents would fores me in to something I don't like but they always mean well.


This quote on top ^ really goes with the book because there is only two options in the book and life of facing your fears.

My Word of the Year

I picked the word try due to the fact that I always attempt to do my best at what I do. Like when I tried out for the basketball team, I really wanted to be on the team and I tried my best and I didn’t make  the team. Next time I try out for a team I will try harder and maybe I will make it on the team. In 2018 my word try will change my life by me succeeding on things I have never done before. I will be attending high school for the first time and again I will try to get along well with others and have better grades.My word means that in my life I will stop worrying about the future and think about  today and every moment of my life as it goes by. I have 1 question for you... what is your 1 word?
